Bible Lesson For Today Sunday June 17, 2007
 Text: Hebrews 1:1-7, Hebrews 2:1-18, Colossians 1:13-29

Hebrews 1:1-7 {Updated NASB}

[1] God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the
prophets in many portions any many ways,

[2] in these last days has spoken to us in His Son,
whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom
also He made the world.

[3] And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact
representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the
word of His power. When He had made purification of sins,
He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,

[4] having become as much better than the angels,
as He has inherited a more excellent name than they.

[5] For to which of the angels did He ever say,
"YOU ARE MY SON,
TODAY I HAVE BEGOTTEN YOU"?
And again, "I WILL BE A FATHER TO HIM AND HE
SHALL BE A SON TO ME"?

[6] And when He again brings the firstborn into
the world, He says,
"AND LET ALL THE ANGELS OF GOD WORSHIP HIM"

[7] And of the angels He says,
"WHO MAKES HIS ANGELS WINDS,
AND HIS MINISTERS A FLAME OF FIRE.


Because It is Written In Our Bible
Hebrews 2:1-18 {Updated-NASB}


[1] For this reason we must pay much closer attention to
what we have heard, so that we do not drift away from it.

[2] For if the word spoken through angels proved
unalterable, and every transgression and disobedience
received a just penalty,

[3] how will we escape if we neglect so great a
salvation? After it was at first spoken through the Lord,
it was confirmed to us by those who heard,


[4] God also testifying with them, both by signs and
wonders and various miracles and by gifts of the Holy Spirit
according to His own will.


[5] For He did not subject to angels the world
to come, concerning which we are speaking.

[6] But one has testified some where saying,
"WHAT IS MAN, THAT YOU REMEMBER HIM?
OR THE SON OF MAN, THAT YOU ARE CONCERNED ABOUT HIM?

[7] "YOU HAVE MADE HIM FOR A LITTLE WHILE LOWER
THAN THE ANGELS;
YOU HAVE CROWNED HIM WITH GLORY AND HONOR,
AND HAVE APPOINTED HIM OVER THE WORKS OF YOUR HANDS;


[8] YOU HAVE PUT ALL THINGS IN SUBJECTION UNDER HIS FEET."
For in subjecting all things to him, He left nothing that is not subject
to him. But now we do not yet see all things subjected to him.

[9] But we do see Him who was made for a little while lower
than the angels, namely, Jesus, because of the suffering
of death crowned with glory and honor, so that by the
grace of God He might taste death for everyone.

[10] For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things,
through whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory,
to perfect the author of their salvation through sufferings.

[11] For both He who  sanctifies  and those who sanctified are
all from one Father; for which reason, He is not ashamed
to call them brethren,

[12] saying,
"I WILL PROCLAIM YOUR NAME  TO MY BRETHREN,
IN THE MIDST OF THE CONGREGATION I WILL SING
YOUR PRAISE."

[13] And again,
I WILL PUT MY TRUST IN HIM"
And  again,
BEHOLD, I AND THE CHILDREN WHOM GOD
HAS GIVEN ME."

[14] Therefore, since the children share in the flesh and blood,
He Himself likewise also partook  of the same, that through death
 He might render powerless him who had the power of death,
that is the devil,


[15] and might free those who through fear of death were
subject to slavery all their lives.

[16] For assuredly He does not give help to angels , but He
gives help to the descendants of Abraham.

[17] Therefore, He had to be made like His brethren in all things,
so that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in
things pertaining  to God, to make propitiation for the sins
of the people.

[18] For since He Himself was tempted in that which He has
suffered, He is able to come to the aid of those who are tempted.


Because Jesus said in Our Bible
Colossians 1:13-29 {Updated NASB}

[13] For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred
us to the kingdom of His beloved Son.

[14] in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

 [15] He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn
of all creation.

[16] For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens
and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions
or rulers or authorities -all things have been created  through
Him and for Him.

[17] He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.

[18] He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the
beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will
come to have first place in everything.

[19] For it was the Father's good pleasure for all the fullness
to dwell in Him,

[20] and through Him to reconcile all things  to Himself, having 
made peace through the blood of His cross; through Him, I say,
whether things on earth or things in heaven.

[21] And although you were formerly alienated and hostile in
mind, engaged in evil deeds,

[22] yet He has now reconciled you in His fleshy body through
death, in order to present you before Him holy and blameless
and beyond reproach.

[23] if indeed you continue in the faith firmly established and
steadfast, and not moved away from the hope of the gospel that
you have heard, which was proclaimed in all creation under heaven,
and of which I, Paul, was made a minister.

[24] Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh
I do share  on behalf of His body, which is the church, in filling up
what is lacking in Christ's afflictions.

[25] And Of this church I was made  a minister according to the
stewardship from God bestowed on me for your benefit, so that I
might fully carry out the preaching of the word of God,

[26] that is, the mystery which has been hidden from the past
ages and generation, but has now been manifested to His saints,


[27] to whom  God willed to make known what is the riches of
the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is
Christ in you, the hope of glory.

[28] And We proclaim Him, admonishing every man and teaching
every man with all wisdom, so that we may present every man
complete in Christ.

[29] For this purpose also I labor, striving according to
His power, which mightily works within me.

A Tribute to My Father

Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they shall be called sons of God.
